“I’m roaming through the streets of one of Morocco’s prettiest places; the blue village of Chefchaouen. After leaving the main square with it’s beautiful old kasbah, I was suddenly seduced by a whiff that wasn’t for sure one of the many tasty tajines beeing cooked on the open fires! Soon I discovered the origins of the sweet smells when I found La Botica de la Abuela Aladdin, a cute soapstore in one of the main streets of Chefchaouens blue labyrinth.”

La Botica is a two storey scent walhalla with a variety of products and gifts one simply cannot resist. One the walls you’ll find woven, multicolored baskets and the shelves are filled with soap bars, solid perfumes,  insence and all kinds of skin care products.

The owner and his staff are very friendly and happy to answer your questions and will let you try the many oils, perfumes, lotions and other products they have. Unlike many other stores in Morocco, you’re able to peacefully walk around and take your time. I’m tempted to buy all of their products and feel like bringing a backpack full of gifts back home.

I decide to just pick a couple of fragrance bars which come in several sizes and are perfect to put between my clothes while traveling. Packed with the owners dedication with potpourri and a small extra gift I leave this lovely place to eventually return the other day. Sometimes you just can’t resist the temptation to buy a little more…
