Riad Malaïka
“In the heart of the medina of Essaouira, my all time favourite spot of Morocco, you’ll find Riad Malaïka. A calm oasis amidst the vibrant fishing village.”
When entering the riad you’ll be amazed by the star-shaped patio, the old bird cage, the turquoise vases, the filtered sunlight through the windows and the old books full of wonderful stories from the past.
After climbing the mosaic stairs you’ll enter the roof terrace. Overlooking the white rooftops of Essaouria with the ocean in the background, you can breath in the healthy sea air. All ten rooms have their own look and feel but all have stunning antique furniture and tiled bathrooms.
In the morning we enjoyed a luscious breakfast upon the roof terrace and the riad turned out the perfect spot for exploring this amazing town. Tip: go to the little harbour around noon and see the fishing boats come in. Pick your lunch fresh from the ocean and see how it gets cooked over a small stove. The moest fresh and delicious seafood you have ever tasted, I guarantee. But be careful, the seagulls are after a bite as well…
