Madisa Camp
“It’s strange and comforting at the same time, meeting Dutch people in the middle of remote Damaraland. I even feel a little bit jealous, they are living such a beautiful simple life in this place…”
After hours of driving on sandy roads, curling in between rocks and endless landscapes, we arrive at Madisa Camp. This campsite is run by a Dutch couple, who are over the moon seeing some other Dutch people again. Madisa Camp is situated in remote Damaraland in beautiful Namibia, and it’s a wonderful place.
Madisa Camp is perfect for the bohemian travelers. The camp is hidden between amazing rock formations and the sites are very private with a beautiful view. The campsites have an individual shower and toilet situated on stilts hidden in the tree tops. To get hot water, you have to make a fire to heat the donkey. Our firewood was almost finished and we heated our shower with… elephant dung that we found next to our site. Madisa does have wild animals around and is not fenced off, which made it even more exciting!
You totally feel into the wild here in amazing Damaraland. It was a beautiful experience. Madisa Camp offers safari tents with beds too, if you’d like a little bit more comfort.
