“Nothing but the Pacific Ocean in front of you, all the way down to the south pole. The black sand on the beach, a hammock rocking in the sea breeze and a jungle tent to spend the night. That is the La leona Eco Lodge in Costa Rica in a nutshell.”

The lodge borders the beautiful Corcovado National Park, Costa Rica’s largest national park on the Osa Peninsula. Corcovado is one of the most biologically intense places on Earth, and being here feels a little bit like being at the furthest ends of the world. Getting here wasn’t easy. It took two local buses and a bumpy ride in the back of a little truck of a local farmer. The last part was by horse and chariot. The journey already feels like an adventure and every minute of it was worth it once we reached the lodge.

The beaches at La Leona Lodge are one of the most important places for the nesting of sea turtles in the world. At the lodge you can get yourself educated on the importance of protecting sea turtles and their role within the ecosystem. Being there at just the right allowed us to have witness the amazing natural spectacle of sea turtles laying their eggs. Next to that you can explore the rain forest with a ranger explaining how the park is home to thousands of wild life species and bounteous flora and fauna. Want to get a little more active? Learn to ride the waves from a professional surfer or take a yoga lesson on the beach – Bikram in this temperatures.

Waking up looking at a marvelous Pacific ocean, taking outdoor showers in the rainforest, sleeping on the wooden deck in front of the tents or seeing the sun set right on the beach: this eco-lodge is downright amazing.
