In between all the greyness the high tower flats ooze, I see some color popping up. Surprised by this sight, I take a closer look and discover an amazing collection of street art in Sofia, Bulgary.

In 2011 Sofia was part of the Urban Creature Festival. Many well-known international and local street artists were given a blank canvas in the bleak district Hazdhi Dimitar. This area, located to the east of Sofia’s city centre, is filled with grey high tower flats, not really a place you might find yourself when you visit Bulgaria’s capital. But this new urban art collective makes it worth a stop.

You can find nothing less than eleven amazing pieces in Hazdhi Dimitar, all collected on this map made by Urban Creatures. But don’t be surprised if you’ll find more, there is new art added every year since 2011!
