“I feel like a goddess from a Greek mythe when staying the Kinsterna. It’s a fairytale place near Monemvasia in Greece, I loved everything about my stay here!’

I can imagine why this hotel was featured among the 65 Best New Hotels in Conde Nast Traveler’s Hot List! Kinsterna Hotel offers boutique accommodations with privileged views of the castle of Monemvasia and the endless blue of the Aegean and I have such beautiful memories of this place. The ambience was peaceful and the the view was out of this world! It’s an unexpected pleasure in the middle of nowhere (about 15-20 minutes from Monemvasia)  and the grounds are beautiful.

The Kinsterna Hotel is a Byzantine mansion which has been faithfully and meticulously restored with great respect for its long history. Words alone cannot describe the peace and quiet, the clean air and the majestic atmosphere of the mansion and its estate – all with a view of the legendary castle-rock of Monemvasia. The suites and rooms have been authentically furnished and designed to reflect the building’s history. All rooms are individually designed and equipped to the finest detail; flat screen TVs, branded bathroom amenities, bathrobes and slippers, heated towel rack, scales, pillow menu and internet connection are standard. I really liked the little details such as the homemade liquor that was put in our room!

Breakfast was suberb as was dinner. Breakfast table was full of with delectable in-season products coming mostly from the mansion’s gardens, such as virgin olive oil, citrus fruits and vegetables. The gourmet restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine using hand-picked ingredients with contemporary twists and the other restaurant on the grounds was perfect too. Views are amazing!

Kinsterna Hotel aoffers a range of activities that familiarize guests with the history of the mansion and the surrounding area. I went on a beautiful horseback ride through the olive groves, made my own natural soap and joined a wine tasting. It was perfect.

There’s a Spa as well, offering a variety of treatments including a traditional hammam. And one more thing: I loved swimming in theirtruly unique signature swimming pool.s The freshwater spring emerges from the basement and eventually forms a river-like swimming pool with private relaxation areas.

The castle-city of Monemvasia is close-by, as is the famous beach of Simos at Elafonisos, the unique port of Gerakas or Kastania Caves.
