“In my opinion, the best thing about Iceland is the beautiful and enchanting nature. Seeing a waterfall was on top of my Iceland-wishlist and Gullfoss did not disappoint!”

Did you know, when flying to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean with Icelandair, you can make a stopover up to seven days in Iceland without paying extra? Visiting Gullfoss Waterfall is a perfect activity for your stopover if you’re only spending a few days in Iceland!

The Gullfoss waterfall is one of the most popular waterfalls in Iceland and is part of the Golden Circle. Gullfoss consists of two waterfalls, a smaller one of approximately 11 meters and a bigger one of 20 meters. The total hight is therefore 31 meters.

There a few different platforms which give you an amazing view over the falls. If you walk to the lower platform, be sure to wear a raincoat, because you definitely will get wet.

On sunny days a rainbows appears over the waterfall, but when it’s rainy, the surroundings are extra green. So whether you’re visiting during rain or sun, Gullfoss is always spectacular.
