“Surrounded by all kinds of beautiful plants I feel one with nature, right in the middle of Amsterdam. From a desert vibe to tropical surroundings, I just simply love this place.”

The Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam is one of the oldest botanic gardens in the world. It’s located in the city centre of Amsterdam, the Dutch capital. The garden is a beautiful and intimate place with an unique collection of plants. The garden includes an outdoor garden and several greenhouses. In the outdoor garden, the curving paths wind around forty different thematic areas. The greenhouses accommodate plants from desert regions, the subtropics and tropics. The monumental Palm Greenhouse provides winter shelter for the container plants, and in the Three Climate Greenhouse you can cross dark jungle trails or walk along the treetops.

In the midst of the busy city, the Hortus Botanicus offers an oasis of tranquillity, a flowery relief in the urban busyness. It’s one of my favorite places in Amsterdam!
