Rancho Esperanza
“I feel blessed finding Rancho Esperanza, a jewel on the North Pacific coast in Nicaragua. What a beautiful, open space! The hostel is on the beach, so a great spot for surfing, yoga, meditation, climbing palmtrees and sunsets in good company. Just what I need.”
Rancho Esperanza is a hostel with a conscious mind. They work together with the locals from the small fisher town Jiquilillo, but also with volunteers. There is a ton of excursions and activities to do: kayaking, Spanish classes, climbing a volcano, horseback riding, learn to bake tortillas with locals, yoga, palmtree climbing, sailing through the jungle, you name it!
There are hammocks everywhere, also at the beach. There is a huge library, there are games to play, endless entertainment and overwhelming peace and tranquility among the visitors.
You either sleep in a cabin or in the chill space on a hammock. The beds are equipped with a mosquito net and you can put your stuff in a locker. You can even book a private cabin with your love! How romantic. You can order food throughout the day and they have really great choice, also for veggies, they have plenty of dishes.
How to get there? By bus! First, grab the bus from Managua (UCA terminal) to León, where you step on the bus that drives on to Chichigalpa and Chinandega, and from there go to Jiquilillo, the bus driver will drop you off at the door. What a trip! Wow. The trip costs about 6 dollars. In chicken buses, you can literally sit next to some chickens.
