Eco Villa
“I spent my days in Christchurch in Eco Villa, a boutique hotel with a twist! The room is lovely, the kitchen is perfect and I love the edible garden and outdoor baths! It’s like a social environment where you can meet like minded travellers, such a hidden gem in Christchurch!”
The property is a character residence with eight individually-crafted rooms. Created with heaps of love and craftsmanship, radically up-cycling, re-using and renovating many of its original features in order to bring the Villa back to its former glory. They understand perfectly that travelling can be tiring, and I had the need to recover in the midst of all the exciting adventures that New Zealand brought to us. Eco Villa was the ideal setting to rejuvenate and refresh my mind and body and to explore Christchurch itself.
At Eco Villa, they are passionate about sustainability and have been vigilant to continue their eco-friendly ethos throughout the building and planning of this pretty home away from home. The Eco Villa was built with the idea of creating a space which encourages guests to make kinder choices, in order to establish a greener future and a sustainable living environment.
They have been attentive in reusing and recycling as many materials as possible when renovating the Villa, creating as little waste as possible. Many features in the rooms have been up-cycled from components found in the Eco Villa while renovating. They have installed a variety of resources to ensure that they have created a space which is kind to the environment, from hot water heat-pumps, solar power energy (coming soon) and grey-water reuse. Eco Villa has its own edible garden filled with delicious organically grown produce. The garden aims to showcase what can be grown in an inner city garden using permaculture principles. During times of harvest produce will be made available for guests to use whilst cooking in the beautiful recycled rimu kitchen.
Eco Villa has a large ballroom that’s used as a community area for social and inspirational events, such as conscious movie nights, early morning yoga and cooking classes. It’s the perfect place to meet like-minded travellers and get your sustainable imagination brewing!
