“Oh, Nima Lodge… I have such a homesickness to this place! Everything here felt like a dream. This place really is one of those places why The Boho Guide was started in the first place: a true boho gem in South Africa.”

Literally each and every detail of this place breathes The Boho Guide: the beautiful wooden chalets on stilts, the crazy beautiful view over the valley, the (yoga) deck, the outdoor shower, the interior, the name, the logo, the bath, the swing, the music that gently plays on upon entry, the atmosphere, the forest and waterfalls within walking distance…

Nima Lodge offers fantastic private self-catering accommodation along the Garden Route in Wilderness (near Knysna and George) in South Africa. The owners Vida and Anthony are a wonderful free spirited couple: so warm, so welcoming! They were looking for a way to share the silence and peace they found here because, like myself, they fell in love with the Wilderness area. What a dream come true. They took over this beautiful boutique lodge in Wilderness in 2019 and really transformed it into their own dream place: Nima Lodge. Nima is the Tibetan word for sun and an appropriate description of the lodge! The chalets stand tall on a hill with panoramic views over the surrounding valleys and mountains.

The drive up to the lodge seems like a challenge, but all cars can do it! So don’t forget to breathe, drive slowly and they will meet you on the other side: in a completely different world. If you don’t get zen here… I repeat: What. A. Place!

With a wide view over the hills and valleys, you really feel like you’re in a different world in the middle of nature. The lodge consists of just three spacious cabins, fully equipped with everything you need to enjoy your stay in nature. Each cabin comes with a fully equipped kitchen including a two plate induction stove, a convection oven, mini bar fridge and all cooking utensils. Whether you’re going out or staying in the cabin for a day: it’s a lovely space to relax and unwind. Each cabin has a king size and extra long bed, a giant bathtub with stunning views, an outdoor shower and a large deck (with swing!) overlooking the valley. Rooms have Wi-Fi and good speakers, as well as a comfortable seating area. The interior is very light and serene, I really felt at home there.

The heart of the lodge is the central Lapa. A Lapa is a traditional South African building, made up of wooden beams with a thatched roof. The version of Nima Lodge has floor-to-ceiling windows, a large balcony, plenty of daylight and a fireplace in the middle. Every morning they serve a healthy, vegetarian breakfast and offer weekly yoga classes on the patio. You will also find a lovely swimming pool with a view here! This place has a very calm atmosphere.

You can walk down the hill from the lodge right into Wilderness National Park with its beautiful river and waterfalls. Here we had lunch together right at the foot of the waterfall. So romantic!
