Iguazú Waterfalls
‘The power of the raging water of the Iguazú Waterfalls in Argentina wakes me up and energizes my body. While I am staring into the Devil’s Throat of the Falls I realise once again: the world is so beautiful and fascinating!’
The Iguazú Falls are waterfalls on the border of Argentina and Brazil. They are the largest waterfall system in the world. The Falls are surrounded by jungle and in the area you can visit around 275 big and smaller falls. For most of its course, the Iguazú river flows through Brazil; however, most of the falls are on the Argentinian side.
The legend has it that a God planned to marry a beautiful woman named Naipí, who fled with her mortal lover Tarobá in a canoe. In a rage, the God sliced the river, creating the waterfalls and condemning the lovers to an eternal fall (source: Wikipedia).
To visit the falls you can go to the park on the Brazilian side. One long boardwalk brings you close to the falls. Another day you can visit the falls from the Argentinian side. On this side you have three different walks: each with another difficulty level. That said, if you are a normal fit person, it is easy to do all three of them. Start low and work your way up to the last walk where you face the famous ‘devil’s throat.’ You will leave the park fresh, wet and rejuvenated. If you have only one day to visit the falls, I recommend you go see the falls from the Argentinian side.
