“It feels like a scene from Planet of the Apes; wild animals with the skyline of Nairobi in the background.”

For sure Nairobi National Park is the most fascinating wildlife park I ever visited. It never felt so surreal to see wildlife. In some places of the park you have a clear view on the city of Nairobi while a herd of zebra’s just passes by. This park is unique in the world. Only 7 km from the center of Nairobi, this is your best retreat from the city.

The park itself is large enough to spend a whole day of wildlife viewing. You can find pretty much all large animals (including big cats) except for elephants. There are open plains but also very dense bush roads. Part of the park is on a hill and there are some small ponds and lakes with crocodiles and hippos.

It definitely does not feel like a zoo, but really feels like a wildlife park. The Nairobi National Park is a large park, where you can drive for hours without seeing anyone. The skyline of Nairobi is only visible on the lower plains.
