“Tucked away behind a heavy wooden door and old walls in the medina of Marrakech you’ll find a green oasis called Le Jardin.”

Even though I always very much enjoy the noisy and busy streets of Marrakech with all its vendors, colours, scents, traditional garments and spices, it is sometimes nice to escape to a more quiet place. In the old Medina you’ll find several stunning roof terraces overlooking the city, but one of my favourite places is the little green oasis called Le Jardin.

In the lush courtyard of an old Riad tall banana trees grow and offer shade under the hot Moroccan sun. The entire place is painted azure green with refined decorative art, and all along the yard are cosy private seats. Near the entrance designer Norya Ahron has her latest creations on display and she has a great boutique shop on the first floor with kaftans, bags and accessories.

The menu offers a variety of different cuisines and they – even though officially not allowed – serve a great mojito. A secret spot well worth a visit.
