“One comes to Flores for the famous Komodo dragons, the marvelous underwater world, the pristine beaches and the volcanic peaks covered in lush green jungle. But one should not miss out on what Flores is also really renowned for: its splendid coffee! Just before embarking on the long trip home, I found this fine coffee shop and gallery to stock up on the black gold and have a cup of it with the friendly owners.”

Though Maumere itself isn’t particularly a must-visit, but Sibakloang is worth a short stop when you’re in the area. The little store is set along a road and nicely decorated with some local handicrafts as wallets, bags and textiles are displayed. They have a variety of coffee beans to choose from and they can make you both a hot or iced coffee speciality. And if you feel like taking a bit of Flores back home: definitely take a bag (or two) of beans or grounded coffee home!
