“At the Blue Lagoon in Laos I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, water, trees, people. I thought, this is what it is to be happy.”

The Blue Lagoon is a must for any travellers visiting Vang Vieng. It’s a great escape from the heat for a couple of hours. The Blue Lagoon is located about half an hour from Vang Vieng. I take a scooter, something I always do in Asia, to explore the cute little villages around the area. After waving to all happy kids in the villages, I follow the sign towards the Blue Lagoon.

I fall in love with this place immediately, it’s indeed crystal clear blue. It’s a perfect stop to relax and marvel at the beauty of the lagoon, to meet up with fellow backpackers, to drink, to lounge on the grass, swim in the cool water or jump from on of the trees into the lagoon.

You can take your own drinks and bites, but there are some bars and shacks selling drinks and bites too. It’s a great place to hang out! for anything and it was also a great place to hang out and meet other like minded travellers.
