“All these beautiful mountains make me feel so humble… The Blue Mountains in Australia are mesmerizing.”

For my first camping trip in Australia I went to the Blue Mountains. It is only a 2 hours drive from Sydney which is absolutely nothing once you experienced all the long distances in this massive country.

The Blue Mountains is a rugged region west of Sydney. It is known for its dramatic scenery, it encompasses steep cliffs, massive waterfalls and eucalyptus forests. The eucalyptus tree bears a kind of oil that is filling up the atmosphere. In combination with dust and water vapour, the mist refracts light, which makes the haze look blue at a distance and that is how the mountains got their name. You can walk multiple tracks here, some for beginners, some for the more advanced walkers.

Major tourist spot here is the the Three Sisters sandstone rock formation. A bit touristic maybe but also a beautiful view over these mountains…Katoomba, a cute town in the area is also worth a visit. You will find nice shops, friendly people and if you’re lucky some live music or a festival here.
