‘My jetlag wakes me up at 6 am. Normally I would try my best to turn over and get some extra sleep. But not today. Not here. Not at Sorobon Beach Resort. Silently I step out of bed and walk outside. My feet touch the sand, my hair catches the sea breeze and when I reach the shore it is just me and the sunrise.’
The whole island of Bonaire is a protected marine park and Sorobon Beach Resort is located in the heart of this beauty. Between mangrove trees you’ll find a bay that will blow your mind. Knee deep water runs as far as the eye can see. The seagrass pastures attract colorful sea life and don’t be surprised when a turtle slowly passes by.
At Sorobon Beach Resort you can rent a chalet right on the beach. A truly unique experience falling asleep to the sound of the waves. All accommodation offer a small kitchen to prepare your own meal and outside is a wooden porch that overlooks the ocean. The perfect spot for afternoon drinks. Some cabins even have hammocks!
The garden on the grounds of the resort is beautifully maintained with tropical plants and trees. You’ll easily spot all sorts of birds, lizards and iguanas. Vegetables and herbs are grown for use in the restaurant. Yoga classes are available every morning and twice a week you can join sunset yoga on the pier. Sorobon also offers all kinds of yoga and windsurf retreats.
What I love about the Caribbean is the life outdoors. It is a world where you don’t need anything more than the sun on your skin, sand between your feet, some flipflops, a snorkel and maybe a cocktail here and there.
