Lieteberg – National Park Hoge Kempen
I’m at the Lieteberg visitor center within National Park Hoge Kempen in Belgium. It’s late October, the trees are shedding their leaves and the forest has that earthly smell you get in this time of the year. The sun casts her rays in abundance on this sunny day, exposing a myriad of autumn colors. Forest walks are always a good idea, but doing so barefoot makes you feel even more connected to Mother Nature. Take off your shoes, wiggle those toes and GO!
Visitor centre Lieteberg is amidst the beautiful National Park ‘Hoge Kempen’ in the Belgian province Limburg. It’s a starting point for hikes and bike rides through pine forest alternated with purple heathlands, ponds and hills offering beautiful vistas.
A butterfly dome and insect museum are another option to get in touch with nature. And how about a special barefoot walking path? Along this 3 km path you’ll explore and experience this Flemish region in an uniqe way. Opening times depend on the weather, so check the website to see if the path is open. If not, just take one of the other paths and enjoy this lovely nature spot!
