“1000Grad – it’s a remarkable combination: the best Asian tapas I’ve ever eaten in Berlin, in a luxury environment but with the most laid-back vibe one could imagine!”

Fine dining is undergoing a big boom in Berlin. Every once in a while a new restaurant pops up, claiming to be thé next fine dining experience, but the one that definitely needs to be on your radar is 1000Grad.

Kurfürstendamm isn’t really known for hosting hip or bohemian hotspots, honestly it’s one of those areas I never visit because it’s not my cup of tea. That makes it even more bold that the owners of 1000Grad decided to open up shop in this part of town. The street view is a combination of big, expensive cars and pricy shops, but in the midst of it all you can find this new gem.

1000Grad is fine dining in a fancy, but real casual, setting. The interior is made to look like a terrace, with gorgeous rattan chairs, lots of plants, big benches and lively colours. The casual vibe is transferred to the menu: you’re recommended to share several dishes and enjoy your meal together. Eat their small bites, drink their delicious fresh cocktails and lemonades and for a while you’ll feel like you’re back in Asia.
