Waking up in the middle of the night by a thunderstorm. Seeing the lights flashing over the water. Experiencing the wild nature from the safety of your own wine barrel. That is the experience I had at Kempings Melnsils.”

Kempings Melnsils is a back to basic camping in Latvia with some very unique features. You can sleep in refurbished wine barrels on the beach. Literally: on the beach! From the window you can see the small waves of the East Sea crash into the rocks. It must be the most relaxing sound to fall asleep with.

The wine barrels fit two – four people and all have this amazing sea view. The interior is basic with just a bed and a place to sit, but do you really need anything more with these amazing views?

There are also winebarrels that are now a sauna and there are several jaccuzi’s. There is no wifi or electricity in the winebarrels making this a place to truly relax.
