“Be amazed by the most amazing street art in The Bijlmer in Amsterdam. The Bijlmer’s H-neighborhood is teeming with magnificent murals! Got me speechless.”
Art platform R.U.A. (along with scores of international artists) was invited to take part in an effort to spruce up Zuidoost. I took a street art tour with AllTourNative Amsterdam that showed me a selection of the best murals!
In cooperation with international artists, R.U.A. (Reflexo on Urban Art) has given several empty walls in Zuidoost more than just a lick of paint. Beginning in 2001, the project has give the H-Neighborhood many murals. More than fifteen murals were painted by R.U.A. with the most created by Brazilian artists. The Hoptille’s 26 walls were painted by Spanish Ovni and Hakfort’s wall was painted in April/May 2018 by the Egyptian artist, Ammar Abo Bakr.
This tour aims to give you inside information about the project and the stories behind the artworks as R.U.A has been influencing the transformation of a whole neighborhood on the outskirts of Amsterdam, by realizing sky-high mural paintings.
On the Street Art Murals Walking Tour, a passionate, knowledgeable local guide took me out in the up and coming H-Buurt to visit more than a dozen amazing murals, painted over the last 5 years by mostly Brazilian artists for R.U.A. Many of these artists have previously been involved in the transformation of the infamous favelas in Brazil. The H-Buurt is an up and coming neighborhood of Amsterdam, it’s an area tourists and even some Amsterdammers rarely visit. Let AllTourNative help you be unique and see a totally different side of our great city!
