World of Food
“Come to the World of Food in colourful and cheerful Amsterdam, southeast area. I think this is the nicest of all the food halls in Amsterdam and surroundings because it isn’t your typical hipster food hall!”
At World of Food in Amsterdam you can find the tastiest street food from all over the world under one roof. It is less than a 10-minute drive from Amsterdam city centre. I promise you great people who passionately prepare the food from their youth right in front of you, normal prices and free parking. It’s raw, authentic and quirky: not your typical hipster food court!
The World of food is a multi-cultural food hall in the Netherlands. In the old parking garage Develstein in Amsterdam Zuidoost, 32 enterprising flavor makers serve the tastiest international street food. It offers a place for inspiring encounters and to broaden your horizons. The World of Food offers culinary entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their best dishes to a wide audience. Cultures meet each other and truly connect here, I think it’s an unique spot!
The southeast district of Amsterdam had the ambition for several years to stimulate culinary entrepreneurship in the district by creating a place where the multicultural cuisine of Amsterdam Zuidoost can grow and flourish. A project that helps start-ups or small culinary entrepreneurs and at the same time a place where residents from inside and outside the urban area can meet up.
As a result, Amsterdam Zuidoost met up with the architects Ted Schulten and Harvey Otten and the project developer Lingotto in 2010. This collective translated the ambition of the district into a concrete project; World of Food in the parking garage Develstein!
