Buitenplaats Beekhuizen | Wellness XL Lodge

I always feel completely at peace here, as it’s one of the few places where you can stay right at the Posbank, one of the most beautiful nature spots in The Netherlands. Spending some nights in this National Park is very special: you are staying in the domain of wild boar, roe deer and other wildlife!”
It’s hard to define Buitenplaats Beekhuizen. It’s not a holiday park nor a regular camping, I guess you can say it’s unique in it’s own way! It’s staying in nature at its finest. Staying at Buitenplaats Beekhuizen means back to basics, surrounded by nature – but with modern comfort. The park offers two types of accommodation: The Pods and the Lodge tents. We have stayed in a Pod (pretty minimalistic cabins in a Scandinavian style) before, check it out here.
This time, we chose to stay at one of their most comfortable lodges: the Wellness XL Lodge! We brought the twins and the dog as this place is very child- and dog friendly too. The XL Lodge Tent has special children facilities such as a cute bedstea with play nook underneath! Best thing of the place: the Wellness Lodge Tent features a private Dutch Tub LoveSeat! This double seat hot tub can be filled with hot water from the boiler. We loved enjoying a warm bath in the middle of nature! Tip: if you’re not staying in the Wellness lodge, you can book a hot tub session!
The Lodgetent is further provided with several sleeping areas; 1 ‘open’ bedroom with a double four-poster bed, a bedroom with a single bed and a bunk bed and the double bedstead. The bathroom has a sink, rainshower and toilet and the tent has a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, gas hob (no oven or microwave), a electric kettle and a Dulce Gusto coffeemachine. There is a spacious sitting and dining area with a pellet stove and outside on the veranda you’ll enjoy the outdoor furniture, your own picnic table and a fire place. It’s truly such a lovely place to stay!
I loved staying in the Wellness Lodge Tent XL and it was perfect for the kids too. They’ve actually had the best time of their life! Together with their park friends they’ve strolled around the place for hours as there are natural play areas for children. Playing in nature is best with water, trees, and as many natural materials as possible! There is a large playground next to restaurant WOODZ, with a slide, ropeway, ‘balancing tree’ and stepping stones. From the lodge tent, we had a perfect view over the water playground with water pump. They have had so much fun!
The park is very spacious and the only thing you will see from your window are trees, trees and more trees. You’re in the middle of the forest! What I like too is that they like to put people of the same age together. That might sound strange, but it’s actually really convenient and smart. Families with little kids go on field number one, near the playground. Families with teenagers go on field number two, with a big wide open field in the middle for playing games like soccer or badminton. Couples without children or elderly get placed on field number three, for complete peace and quietness.
Don’t forget to get your breakfast, lunch or dinner at restaurant Woodz. It’s a lovely place at the entrance and they serve good food!
