Montjuïc Cacti Park
“I love big cities just as much as I love nature and while traveling I like to combine best of both worlds. This cacti park in Barcelona is one of the best hidden gems I found on my search for green in cities. Having the complete park to myself felt like a million dollar.”
Montjuïc cacti park is a small heaven for cacti lovers hidden in the mountains of Barcelona. With more species than you can count and cacti in al shapes and sizes it is the perfect place to escape the busy city life.
The moment I found the entrance of the park, I had trouble keeping it cool. I lost my mind for a little bit, seeing all these beautiful and impressively big cacti. I started making pictures like a crazy person and after a few minutes I sat down on a bench to enjoy the view overlooking the harbor of Barcelona.
Finding my way to the park did not go as smooth as I hoped for. After a brief look at Google maps, I concluded that walking along the harbor was the best way to get up to the mountain. I ended up getting lost in an industrial area. When I was almost at the foot of the hill, there was a busy highway I couldn’t possible cross separating me from continuing my journey. So please take my advice and just follow the indicated route on the signs for Montjuïc. You’ll find the park on your way up (look for “Jardins de Mossèn Costa i Llobera”). Entrance to the park is free, but keep an eye on the opening hours.
