Mastbos
“I felt like a ten year old running around in the Mastbos forest. We shamelessly climbed the ropes hanging in the trees, pretending we weren’t adults. When a big group of little kids arrived we casually continued our walking route.”
The Mastbos is a small forest located on the edge of Breda, a lovely city in the south of the Netherlands. Last year, the Mastbos celebrated its 500th birthday! It survived disasters, wars and deforestation.
There are a lot of different walking routes to follow in the Mastbos, all with a different theme. Special walking routes for kids, a historic route, an animal spotting route, a dog route, a biking route and even a special route for elderly or people who have trouble walking. You can download the routes on their website or download their app on your phone.
In the north part of the forest there is a playing area for kids, with different kind of playground equipment hidden between the trees. For a little moment we pretended we weren’t adults and ran around like ten year olds, so much fun!
