Pipowagen B&B Op Het Eilandje
“The crossing of the water towards Pipiwagen B&B Op het Eilandje (on an island!) in The Netherlands takes less than a minute, but the holiday feeling immediately feels infinite!”
I think I fell in love with the gypsy wagon of B&B Op Het Eilandje. This colorful so called pipowagen is located on the island De Woude, just above Amsterdam. You can only reach this accommodation with a ferry, which makes it extra unique. The holiday feeling already starts when you’re parking the car. You leave your car on the mainland and continue walking towards the boat. The crossing of the water takes less than a minute, but the holiday feeling immediately feels infinite.
We were warmly welcomed by owner Christina: the pipowagen is hidden among the bushes in their garden. Cat Minoes is waiting for us (at that moment we did’nt know yet that she would stay with us all evening and morning, because -of course- we give her lots of attention). The pipowagen has a cozy interior: wallpaper with a world map, a box bed, a wood stove, an extensive kitchen with coffee and tea making facilities and even a private garden with sun lounger, barbecue, campfire and more. One word? Wow!
That night we slept great in the box bed, all rosy cheeked as of the red wine and the campfire. In the morning we woke up with a tasty breakfast with a lot of delicious stuff like eggs, pancakes, fresh bread, yoghurt and coffee. Christina has done everything to make us feel at home. Even though we only slept here one night, it really feels like ‘recharging’ and back to reality when we got back on the ferry to leave. De Woude feels like a secret little place in Noord-Holland with the big city just around the corner. Definitely a recommendation!
