We took the twins to one of the farms (Lange Weide in Drenthe, The Netherlands) of this farm glamping concept called Boerenbed. It was a perfect getaway. Their small-scaled glampings (with a limited number of accommodations to ensure your privacy!) are tucked away in some of the most gorgeous spots in the countryside of Europe. We enjoyed truly stunning and far-reaching panoramic views right from the doorstep of our luxury glamping accommodation. We took a peek into the world of farming and met the animals that call it their home. It was a stay to remember!
All of their locations are carefully selected and are situated within stunning locations. They all offer some organized activities such as pizza evenings, a farm tour, tractor rental and more, and they have natural playgrounds for the kids as well. Our twins had the time of their life, meeting all the animals, playing with their new friends, they went horseback riding, slept in a cupboard bed; you can imagine that weeks later they are still talking about this trip!
What I liked most, besides all the animals, is that you actually stay with the farmer on the farm and enjoy quality time without modern facilities and the distractions of everyday technology. You’re part of everyday farm life.
The luxury tents are fully equipped for up to 6 persons but come without electricity or Wi-Fi, yet these replaced with the ambiance of oil lamps, candle and the heat from a classic style wood burning stove. Besides this it doesn’t feel like camping at all, there is a comfortable double bed, bunk bed and their famous cupboard bed (the kids loved it!), an inside and outside wood stove, kitchen unit, dining table, a private toilet and running water, picnic table, barbeque facilies and deck chairs. There are communal showers but you are able to book a more luxurious tent with private bathroom (and hottub!) too, which we did.
You are able to cook a meal in the tent, yet this shows you how cooking at home is a privilege as you first need to light up the fire! Some farms offer prepared meals of local products as well and most of them have a shop selling local products and everything else you need. We ordered a snack plate and it was perfect to end our day in the hottub with a bottle of wine and local cheese, meat, homemade bread & more, while the kids where asleep in their cupboard bed. And don’t forget about pizza night!
It’s a glamping experience you will not find anywhere else! Good to know: this farm stay was in The Netherlands but they operate worldwide!
