Bairro Alto
“When the banana bread melts down on your tongue you know you’re at the right spot: Bairro Alto in Nijmegen.”
During one of my summer walks through the city of Nijmegen I came across Bairro Alto, a lovely breakfast- and lunchroom. When entering this cute, little cafe you can feel the positive energy flow immediately. This place has an old-fashioned look, what makes the place even more special to me. You kinda get the feeling that you’re going back in time.
They serve the best banana bread I have ever tried and believe me if I say that I’ve tried a lot of them. When on a diet, try the salads full of veggies and when you’re really hungry go for a sandwich with avocado or carpaccio. You name it, they (probably) have it.
Visiting Nijmegen during the summer? Go for a picnic in the park in front of the cafe. They will make sure to give you a picnic blanket and serve the food in a basket!
