“During our stay at HiHahut we didn’t see anybody of the organization, but no worries… that makes it extra exciting and adventurous!”

I have never seen a concept like Hihahut. They have placed beautiful tents on amazing locations. Right after you’ve booked your accommodation, you’ll receive information by mail one week before departure. In the envelope you’ll find a secret code that you can use to open the safe at the destination. That means the adventure already starts at home! In Roelofarendsveen in The Netherlands, near Schiphol Airport, you’ll find the beginning of your Hihahut trip. You have to do everything yourself: from there you’ll take a rowing boat or a tandem to travel to your accommodation. In the envelope there was also a map that you can use to find the route to your sleeping place.

This evening we’ve slept in the so-called Binnentent, a colorful accommodation on an island between the meadows. This place can only be reached by boat, which makes it extra special. The tent has a large (and comfortable) bed with thick blankets. Next to the tent you’ll find a kitchen, a sitting area and a self-sufficient toilet and shower. The place is covered and adjacent to a large greenhouse.

During our stay we didn’t see anybody of the organization, but no worries… that makes it extra exciting and adventurous. We’re completely on our own and exactly that aspect is great! The bed is fantastic and the breakfast (prepared for us) with local products tastes very good. In the morning we woke up early from the noise of all the ducks, birds and frogs. An unique alarm clock in the middle of nature!

The big plus of Hihahut is that you spend the night in really unique places and also in very unique creations. You can also book a Sterrenkijker, a Vogelaar and a Zonnepost, all spread over the area around Roelofarendsveen. I am very curious about the other sleeping places of Hihahut, but for now I’m still dreaming about this one.
