ShamBosa at Bank15
Update: ShamBosa is permanently closed, but you can still visit Bank15 and enjoy the other foodbars inside!
“Bank15 is a creative space in Tilburg located in a beautiful old monumental building where lots of cool things are happening. Looking for a place to shop, eat, drink and get inspired? Stop looking, you’ve found it!”
Bank15 is a concept that combines social engagement with commerce. They give startups a chance to try out their business ideas, on the condition that you’ll share your knowledge and help each other.
One of those startups is ShamBosa, founded by Shamila Panah. After graduating, Shamila came across this project and decided to give her dream of owning a restaurant a shot. Despite the fact that she grew up on the Dutch countryside, Shamila never forgot her Afghan roots.
At Bank15 she gets the chance to run her own food bar with traditional Afghan dishes. At ShamBosa she can share her love for making food (and eating it). The menu consists of authentic Afghan dishes her parents taught her to make. She uses typical herbs like turmeric, cumin and ginger.
My favorite dish was Mantu; Steamed dough buns filled with fresh meat and vegetables topped with a sauce of yellow split peas and yogurt mint. Other dishes on the menu are, for example: Palaw, Karayi and of course Sambosas. Can’t choose? Try a tasting, where you meet the Afghan cuisine by means of different dishes.
