Zierikzee Aan de Haven
“Zeeland is the sunniest province of the Netherlands and during our weekend spent here, it sure does live up to that expectation. As we drive through the flat green countryside, we can see the so-called Fat Tower loom on the horizon. Zierikzee is our destination, B&B Aan de Haven our home away from home. As we look out of our window, we can hear church bells ring, a small sail boat glides through the water and a light wind turns the blades of the mill. Does it get any more Dutch than this?”
B&B Aan de Haven (‘At the Port’) is located in an authentic manor house in the car-free street along the harbor. The entire top floor is at the disposal of travelers who love to explore Zierikzee and it’s surroundings. The house is decorated thoughtfully. Soft blue tones, whitewashed wooden ceilings, natural light coming through the roof windows and small details make you feel like you’re in a beach house. The private bathroom is spacious and has a lovely freestanding bath.
The owner gives us a warm welcome and loves to share information about this medieval city that feels like a village. In the morning she serves us a tasty breakfast, well preparing us for another day of wandering through the cobblestoned streets of Zierikzee. If you’re looking for a Boho spot to explore the beauty of this place, don’t look any further and throw out you anchor here!
