Hluhluwe Game Reserve
“Waking up with zebras in your backyard, or rather saying, in front of your door. Am I dreaming? No… it’s all possible at Hluhluwe Game Reserve, a wonderful wild park in the North East of South Africa.”
When you’re talking about Kruger National Park everybody knows what you mean, but do you say Hluhluwe, nobody knows… It’s a true hidden gem. In this beautiful park, located in the heart of the Zulu Kingdom, you can spot many animals in wild; zebras, elephants, lions, rhinos and many more… I loved it, especially because it was so quiet. When I went on a game drive early in the morning, we were the only car driving trough the fields. Imagine how special that was!
After visiting a wild park, you don’t want to go to a zoo anymore. You prefer seeing animals in the wild, seeing them in their natural behaviour. Going to South Africa was my first wildlife experience and I fell in love. I grew up at a farm, surrounded by animals and I’ve been in love with animals my whole life, but seeing big animals in real life is amazing. It’s so impressive when you see an elephant only one meter from your car!
I visited the park in high summer, when you expect beautiful weather and an amazing sunrise… I can tell you, it was raining and grey – but still an amazing experience!
