AfriCamps at Ingwe is nestled in the heart of the renowned Garden Route, situated in the Crags near Plettenberg Bay, making it an ideal destination for a glamping getaway. Surrounded by lush forests and fynbos, it offers easy access to some of South Africa’s most beloved beaches and adventure destinations. We absolutely loved the view, it was stunning! Felt like sleeping right in an endless forest.
Positioned between the lively coastal town of Plettenberg Bay, just a 10-minute drive away, and the charming village of Nature’s Valley, AfriCamps at Ingwe is enveloped by breathtaking natural landscapes, with stunning beaches and ancient forests in every direction. Its proximity to Knysna and Tsitsikamma National Park, both reachable within a 30-minute drive, makes it a perfect base to explore the diverse attractions of the region.
AfriCamps at Ingwe caters to outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, providing a gateway to a plethora of popular attractions in the area, or simply a tranquil retreat to unwind on the private deck of your fully-equipped boutique glamping tent, surrounded by the serene beauty and sounds of Ingwe’s forest. We had a lovely braai (we ordered the braai and breakfast package!) and it was a lovely getaway for sure. We went to Tsitsikamma the next day to take a hike and conquer the suspension bridge, it was so much fun.
The elevated tents offer sweeping views of verdant hilltops framed by deep indigenous forested valleys and the majestic Tsitsikamma Mountain Range. Three of the tents feature private outdoor wood-fired hot tubs, where you are able to indulge in relaxation while marveling at the breathtaking vistas under the African sky—a truly serene experience, especially on clear, starry nights. If it’s a but windy, you can even hear the lions at Jukani roar! It adds to the African experience for sure. Our little one had so much fun making fire with his dad. We enjoyed a lovely sunset and campfire and slept like babies. It was too short, next time we will stay longer but there were more AfriCamps to explore! Huge fans.
The tent itself is spacious, fully-equipped tents with comfortable beds (family-proof!), private bathrooms, well-equipped kitchens, and cozy living areas. Some camps even feature additional luxuries like wood-fired hot tubs or private decks with breathtaking views. They all have a braai area and most farms offer extra’s such as little shops, playgrounds, horseback riding, hikes, natural pools – depending on the location of the camp… so just check them all out! You can create a whole AfriCamps trip through the country. And it’s so affordable too!
An array of attractions and activities await in the vicinity, including visits to Monkeyland, Birds of Eden, and Jukani Wildlife Centre, as well as adventurous excursions like Hog Hollow Horse Trails and exploring the Plettenberg Bay Game Reserve. Canoeing adventures along the Bitou and Keurbooms Rivers, and wine tasting at nearby estates, further add to the options available, ensuring that you are spoiled for choice during their stay at AfriCamps at Ingwe. There’s so much to do, for kids as well! Tip: go to Thyme and Again Farmstall for some fresh groceries and other yummy treats!
