Set in the foothills of the Saronsberg Mountains, just outside the picturesque, historic town of Tulbagh, Vindoux is a family-run guest farm offering the perfect (affordable!) retreat. Nestled between fruit trees and vineyards, Vindoux is the proud home of the only luxury treehouse accommodation in the Western Cape! I had to check it out. I’ve stayed for just one night due to bad planning but it was one of the best nights of the trip: such a hidden gem, this bohemian tree house amidst vineyards. Our stay was perfect!
If you would like to experience hotel suite extravagance in a unique setting with a touch of quirky, then the luxury treehouses are for you. Each of their secluded treehouses is set amongst the trees bordering the game camp or orchards, with views of the wildlife, orchards and majestic mountains from your balcony. The treehouses sleep two and are individually styled to include an en-suite bathroom with large spa bath, high quality bed linen, fluffy robes and tea and coffee-making facilities. All you have to do is add the romance, but that certainly isn’t difficult in this breath-taking environment!
Breakfast and dinner was served directly to our treehouse and we enjoyed a romantic meal under the stars! It is the ultimate intimate dining experience. And just to ensure that you really do feel a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, why not sit back on the treetop deck and spot some wildlife in the game camp? Tulbagh’s glorious sunny days deserve a fantastic pool to lounge beside and cool off in, and it just so happens that Vindoux is home to one of Tulbagh’s largest pools. Set in the beautifully manicured gardens, and surrounded by sun loungers, four poster day beds and picnic tables, this suntrap is a great place to unwind or have some fun!
As if all this wasn’t enough to help me unwind, Vindoux also has a Day Spa, offering a wide variety of beauty and relaxation treatments. Guided by the gentle hands of a highly qualified therapist, I was taken through a healing journey, surrounded by the peaceful cool of this beautiful spa. All of their beauty products take advantage of the wealth of natural resources found in their amazing country! This Fynbos-inspired therapy gives these treatments a distinctive feel and aroma.
The farm boasts four treehouse suites, a self-catering Tree Lodge and rustic self-catering cottages to suit all needs. So whether you are looking for a quiet couple’s getaway or a chance to get together with friends, Vindoux has something for everyone! What I also loved so much were all the animals on site: cats, dogs, some game, it was perfect. Tip: I didn’t have time so please make time to appreciate the beauty of their valley by seeing it at a slower pace. Vindoux’s Wine by Bike can provide bike hire for half or full days, to allow you to explore the number of farm tracks through the orchards and vines, or to visit the nearby wine farms. The bikes have specially designed wine carriers attached to them for you to easily transport your purchases: love it!
