Purmamarca Market
“Somewhere in the north of Argentina, surrounded by the most colorful hills you’ve ever seen, you find a little village called Purmamarca. A village with a street market you will never forget. So colorful, so local, so inspiring”
When you have to believe the Lonely Planet, you don’t have to go to Purmamarca because it’s so touristic. Normally I don’t like touristic spots, but my heart told me to go there. And it was the best choice during my trip in Argentina – I loved it.
The Purmamarca market is so colorful! You will find blankets in all the colors of the rainbow, beautiful sweaters and scarves made of llama wool, wonderful bohemian bags, guitar cases and so much more. It’s not only the market around the square that is nice, the little shops sell beautiful things too. It’s maybe a little bit touristic, but mostly with people from Argentina! In the north you will find more native people and you can’t compare them with the people from the rest of Argentina.
Tip: Don’t forget to walk up the hill to see the amazing sunrise in the morning. From here you can see the market people with all their stuff, walking to the market. You will see people who prepare food early in the morning too. It’s amazing!
